CGPA to GPA formula
GPA (4.0) = (CGPA ÷ 10) × 4 = CGPA × 0.4. It is the proportional mapping between the two scales: your position within the 10-point scale, re-expressed within the 4.0 scale. A 7.0 CGPA (70% of the scale) becomes a 2.80 GPA, and a 10.0 CGPA becomes a perfect 4.0.
For the percentage equivalent, Indian boards and most Indian universities use the CBSE convention percentage = CGPA × 9.5. And for Germany, universities apply the Modified Bavarian formula - German grade = 1 + 3 × ((10 − CGPA) ÷ (10 − 4)) for a CGPA at or above the typical passing mark of 4 - where 1.0 is the best grade and 4.0 the lowest pass, the reverse direction of the US scale.
