Free bulk ZIP code to city converter with CSV download

A ZIP code to city converter is a free online tool that turns a whole list of postal codes into city and region names at once, across 60+ countries. Pick the country, paste up to 50 codes, one per line, to get a results table that flags invalid entries and a one-click CSV download, with no signup.

How do I convert a list of postal codes to cities?

Pick the country, paste the codes into the box above, one per line, and click Convert batch. The tool resolves each one against the free Zippopotam API and shows the city and region in a table, with invalid entries flagged and a CSV download for your spreadsheet.

This beats looking codes up one at a time when you are cleaning a mailing list, tagging survey responses, or enriching a customer export with location names.

What is the fastest way to clean a postal code list?

Run the list through the batch converter: valid codes resolve to cities while typos, transposed digits and discontinued codes get flagged in red per row. Fix the flagged entries and re-run until everything is green, then download the clean CSV.

The CSV export marks each row's status, so you can filter invalid codes in Excel or Google Sheets and correct them in bulk.

Can I convert postal codes to cities in Excel?

Excel has no built-in postal-code-to-city function, which is why this tool exists. Convert your list here, download the CSV, and paste the city column back into your spreadsheet, or use VLOOKUP against the exported file as a reusable lookup table.

For recurring workflows, the downloaded CSV also serves as a reusable lookup table keyed by postal code.

Why are some postal codes flagged as not found?

The usual causes are transposed digits, extensions pasted as one entry (like ZIP+4), a format that does not match the selected country, or codes that were discontinued or never assigned. The tool reports each failure per row instead of guessing, so you know exactly which entries to fix and re-run.

Military APO/FPO codes and very new codes may also be missing from the free database; verify those against the national postal service directly.

FAQs

Is bulk ZIP to city conversion free?

Yes. Convert batches of up to 50 postal codes from 60+ countries as often as you like with no account and no limits.

How many postal codes can I convert at once?

Up to 50 per batch, one per line, all from the same country. For longer lists, split them and run multiple batches.

What happens to invalid postal codes?

Each invalid entry is flagged in red with the reason, such as postal code not found or network error, while valid ones still resolve. Invalid rows are marked in the CSV download too.

Can I download the results?

Yes. One click downloads a CSV with country, postal code, city, state name, state abbreviation and status columns, ready for Excel or Google Sheets.

Where does the data come from?

The free Zippopotam API covering 60+ countries. Requests run in small parallel batches to stay polite to the free service, and real errors are reported per row.
