A find and replace tool is a free online utility that swaps every occurrence of a word or phrase with new text across your whole document. It supports case-sensitive matching and regular expressions, and shows a live count of how many replacements were made.

How do I find and replace text in bulk?
Short answer: Paste your text into the box, type the word or phrase to find, type the replacement, and the result updates instantly with a count of replacements made. Turn on case-sensitive matching when capitalization matters, or enable regex mode to replace patterns like dates, emails or extra spaces. Copy the finished result with one click.
Unlike the find-and-replace in a word processor, this tool works on any device with a browser and handles huge pastes without lag. Because replacements apply to the whole text at once, it is ideal for renaming a product across a document or fixing a repeated typo.
What is regex mode in find and replace?
Short answer: Regex mode treats your search term as a regular expression, a pattern-matching language. For example, the pattern '\\d+' finds any run of digits, '\\s+' finds extra whitespace, and '\\bword\\b' finds a whole word only. You can capture groups with parentheses and reuse them in the replacement with $1, $2 and so on.
Regular expressions are powerful but unforgiving: one wrong character can match nothing or everything. Test on a copy of your text, watch the live replacement count, and keep a backup of the original until you are happy with the result.
Does find and replace change my original text?
Short answer: No. Your original stays untouched in the input box while the edited version appears in the result box. That means you can tweak the search term or replacement and watch the result update without re-pasting. Nothing is saved anywhere, so your text stays private.
This two-box design also makes it easy to compare before and after. If a replacement goes wrong, just clear the find field and the result resets to your original text instantly.
Frequently asked questions
Is this find and replace tool free?
Yes, free and unlimited. Replace text in as many documents as you like with no account.
Can I replace only whole words?
Yes. Enable regex mode and search for \\bword\\b, replacing 'word' with your term. The \\b markers match word boundaries so partial matches are skipped.
What if my regex is invalid?
The tool shows an error message instead of changing your text, so a bad pattern can never corrupt your input. Fix the pattern and the result updates.
Are replacements case-sensitive?
Only when you tick the case-sensitive box. By default 'Apple' matches 'apple', 'APPLE' and any other capitalization.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. All finding and replacing happens in your browser, so your text stays on your device.
